District Governor Lydia Taylor-Bellinger was born and raised in Piedmont, Alabama to Hollis and Estell Diamond. She is the middle sibling to Hollis Jr. and Mary. At the age of 16, Lion Lydia moved to California with her Aunt Mary.
Lion Lydia is married to Larry Bellinger and they make their home in Oakland, California. Lion Lydia has a daughter, Audrea, and two grandchildren, Evan (11) and Dylan (6). Lion Lydia’s daughter and grandchildren live in Houston, Texas.
Lion Lydia is a Retired Lieutenant from the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department after 27 years of service.
Lion Lydia’s 33 years of dedication to Lionism began as a Charter Member of the San Francisco Ocean Ingleside Lioness Club in 1985. In 1995, San Francisco Merced Heights Lions Club was chartered. Lion Lydia served as Charter President, Secretary, Treasurer, Lion Tamer, Tail Twister and has remained a vital serving member for the past 23 years. Lion Lydia continued her service with District 4-C4 serving as a Zone Chair, Cabinet Secretary (3), Executive Director (2), District Protocol Chair (3), Certified Guiding Lion (2), GLT/GMT trainer and a member of the Convention Committee (10).
Lion Lydia is a Progressive Melvin Jones, Life Member of Lions Project for Canine Companions for Independence, Student Speaker Foundation Fred W. Smith Fellow. Lion Lydia has received the Lions Club International President’s Medal, Multiple District 4 Excellence Award and numerous Club and District 4-C4 Awards.
Lion Lydia is involved with Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church and is a youth Assistant Administrator. Lion Lydia has served as Vice President of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Oakland Chapter mentoring girls ages 12 -17, and community testing for HIV/AIDS.
